Guiding students through their college transition to successful careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

blue and white academic hat

The Hg Foundation partnered with Lets Get Ready (LGR) to develop and implement a new STEM Pathway programme for its students.

The programme, which uses a curriculum of text-message based support and near-peer mentoring, focuses on guiding students through their college transition and university studies to successful careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The project is also supporting the building out of LGR’s career and alumni engagement offering.

The partnership is supporting almost 6,500 STEM students, more than doubling the numbers served when the partnership commenced. As a result of this support, the programme aims to lower college dropout, and especially persistence between years 1 and 2 of university, increase graduation rates, as well as building interest and progression into STEM careers.

Through our partnership with The Hg Foundation, we have had the opportunity to design and implement customized support for up to 6,500 of our students who are interested in pursuing careers in STEM. This has been a critical initiative connected to our north star: get more underrepresented students not just through college, but ready to start their professional lives with abundant choice and confidence.

Lena Eberhart, CEO, Let’s Get Ready

As I was preparing for college I received support from LGR that created a pathway for debt-free education. Because of my LGR support system and my coach I was able to ensure that I received all [local] grant opportunities, various scholarships, and other debt-free funding, which made obtaining my college degree easier.
