The Hg Foundation partnered with ReDI School of Digital Integration to support the expansion of its Digital Career Programme in Hamburg. ReDI is a non-profit tech school for refugees, migrants, and marginalised locals without access to digital education. Currently, only 17% of refugees secure a job in Germany after two years of arriving in the country. ReDI aims to accelerate job market integration for these groups by providing participants with digital skills and soft skills, alongside a network of tech leaders, students and alumni, to help identify employment and training opportunities. They have a range of programmes working from age 9 through to adulthood, with some specifically focused on supporting women.

The Digital Career Programme in Hamburg focuses on providing high-end tech skills to course participants. The Hg Foundation is supporting the growth of the programme, which has seen demand quadruple since its launch in 2022. The funding supports 750 individuals over three years, with a particular focus on increasing female engagement, and facilitated the launch of four new courses.

The programme now consists of 11 courses with a variety of entry levels, as well as an annual summer school for women. Participants learn from volunteer IT professionals in evening classes and complete a project each semester. This is accompanied by a range of career support activities and mentorship from industry experts, to help further enhance their employability and entry into tech careers.
