Partnerships

Our partnerships build the pipeline of talent into technology from secondary school upwards, providing support for both
young people and adults.

We aim to ensure that those from under-represented backgrounds:

  • Get the academic and technical qualifications they need to succeed

  • Build the general and specific employability skills most valued by the sector

  • Build an awareness and experience of technology careers and the pathways into them

  • Gain access to education and work opportunities to showcase their talents

The Hg Foundation is building a powerful network of organisations working in different contexts to address common challenges around social mobility and recruiting great talent from diverse backgrounds. Our hope as we develop further is that this community will learn from one another and help us – and the tech sector more widely – to draw wider lessons and make better-informed decisions about where to invest in the future.

Tom Attwood, Chairman

What we fund

We support programmes in the UK, North America and Europe that:

  • Contribute directly or indirectly to better job prospects in tech for underrepresented groups

  • Are focussed on enhancing education outcomes or employability skills

  • Are discrete, evidence-based and with clear metrics to track outcomes and assess impact

  • Benefit those who are under-represented and under-served – especially by gender, ethnicity and income level

  • Are run by expert organisations with a track record of delivery, and open to independent evaluation

  • Would benefit from operational support from Hg and its partners

  • Can effectively use a substantial investment to grow the work

  • We can support for the long-term and have the potential to scale

  • Complement and strengthen our portfolio, including in terms of targeting, approach, and geography
